Deep and exciting encounters between theology and the leading edges of scholarship in universities have never been so essential. Langham Publishing and the Global Faculty Initiative (GFI) have partnered together to publish the Cross-Disciplinary Encounters with Theology series, which brings together global scholars from diverse academic disciplines in rounds of dialogue and response on key themes of the Christian faith, including justice and rights, created order, and the virtues.
This first volume, Justice and Rights, brings world-renowned theologian Prof. Nicholas Wolterstorff into conversation with academics from across five continents in humanities, social sciences, law and public policy, medicine and physical sciences to explore the salience of justice and rights for the substance of their scholarship and academic practices.
On Tuesday, 30 September 2025 at 1200 UTC, Dr Terry Halliday, co-convener of the Global Faculty Initiative will host a webinar book launch. You will have the opportunity to hear Professor Wolterstorff in conversation with the Rev. Dr. Bethan Willis (Oxford Pastorate) and an interdisciplinary group of scholars: Professor Emeritus, Daniel Hastings (Aeronautics and Astronautics, MIT/Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA), Professor Dinesha Samararatne (Law, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka), Professor Cecilia Jacob (International Relations, Australian National University), and Professor Emeritus K.K. Yeo (Theology, Garret Seminary/Northwestern U, USA).
