Euthanasia – or what has commonly been called today assisted dying or the right to die – has been in the social conscience of many societies for the last fifty years, raising numerous questions about human dignity, freedom, and death itself.
On Thursday, 25 January 2024 at 0100 UTC, Dr Theo A. Boer, a fellow at the Center for Bioethics and Human Dignity, will reflect upon the last 40 years of euthanasia practice in the medical field and his service on a Dutch Governmental Review Committee on Euthanasia from 2005-2014. During those years, he has become increasingly critical of developments in this field and has become one of the most vocal critics of the Dutch euthanasia law.
