While the long-term care sector recognizes that holistic care includes the spiritual, many long-term care homes feel under-equipped to provide spiritual care. Building on research into the current provision of spiritual care in LTC in Ontario, Canada, and expressed need for resources, the Schlegel-UW Research Institute for Aging has created a collection of four booklets (which will be available at no cost, online) to support spiritual care provision in long-term care. The collection is entitled ‘Providing Spiritual Care in Long-Term Care’ and includes four resources: 1.
Jane Kuepfer, RP, PhD, MDiv, is the Schlegel Specialist in Spirituality and Aging with the Schlegel-UW Research Institute for Aging and Conrad Grebel University College at the University of Waterloo, in Ontario, Canada. She is a spiritual director, an ordained minister, and a registered psychotherapist, and serves as a spiritual care provider in a retirement home. Jane coordinates an annual Spirituality and Aging Seminar, conducts research, and teaches a graduate course called ‘Aging & the Spiritual Life’. In 2023 she convened, in Waterloo, the 10th International Conference on Ageing & Spirituality.
